Description

The Chandler Memorial, located approximately 5 meters east of the Church of St John the Baptist in Stadhampton, is an early 17th-century chest tomb made of limestone. The tomb has a plain rectangular shape and features a deep lid with a chamfered lower edge. The east end of the chest is inscribed with the text "MS WALTER CHANDLE(?)/A LEARNED MINIST(?)/ DIED(?) OF MARCH/ l6l(?)".
