Description
College Cottage is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the early 18th century and was extended in the 20th century. The building features colourwashed brick with some areas of rendering and has old plain-tile roofs with brick gable stacks. It has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall.
On the right side of the front, there is a tall three-window range with a stepped plinth and storey bands. This section has segmental-arched 24-pane sash windows, which have been renewed on the first floor. To the left, there is an 8-panel door with an architrave and a canopy supported by shaped brackets. The two upper windows in this section are adorned with Regency iron balconies. The rendered lower range to the left includes one bay with a horizontal-sliding sash window from the 18th century, along with a three-window section from the 20th century that is designed in a similar style.
Inside, the ground-floor room in the taller section features fielded panelling.
