Description
Reeves and Sons is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the mid-18th century and was extended in the early 19th century. The exterior features painted render, likely over stone, with a brick extension at the rear and a plain-tile roof that is half-hipped at the front. There are brick stacks projecting from the sides and at the ridge. The building is two stories tall and has a one-window range with a 4-pane sash window above the shop front and a part-glazed door. On the right side, there is a 6-panel door with a 16-pane sash window above it. The rear extension includes two 2-light casement windows above two 1-light casement windows, while the left side is blank.
Inside, there is a boxed spine beam in the shop, with arched alcoves on either side of the fireplace, which is currently covered over. The interior also features 19th-century dado boarding and an early 19th-century dog-leg staircase, likely with stick balusters, although it is now covered with 20th-century hardboard. The roof is not visible but is expected to have architectural interest.
