Description
Nos. 272 and 274 on Ock Street are mid-19th century houses featuring two gabled sections connected by a linking section. The roofs are covered with red 'fish-scale' tiles, and the gable ends are adorned with carved barge-boarding. The buildings stand two storeys high and have two tall external double chimneys. Each gabled section includes one window on each storey, with flush frames and segmental arches, and the windows are fitted with ornamental lead glazing. The middle section has built-in porches topped with a 'fish-scale' tile pentice roof, a wooden cornice, and a wooden four-centred ornamental archway with open spandrels. There are glazed windows and plain doors on the sides, with two additional segmental arched casement windows above, also featuring lead glazing.
