Description

The building, formerly known as The Air Balloon public house, is a public house dating from the early 19th century, with an extension added around the 1830s. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring vitrified headers, and has Welsh slate roofs. The east range has a hipped roof with a brick dentil eaves course, while the west range is gable-ended. There are brick axial stacks.

The layout consists of a two-room plan for the early 19th century range on the left, which was extended by the addition of a taller block on the right around the 1830s. The exterior of the left range is two stories high with two windows. The ground floor has a central doorway with a small canopy supported by shaped brackets, flanked by tripartite sashes with glazing bars. On the first floor, there are two smaller windows with cambered brick arches. The right range is taller, featuring two stories and an attic with one window. It has a band at the first floor level, large 16-pane sashes, and a small gabled dormer with a 6-pane sash. The right-hand return has a bowed window on the ground floor, a first-floor band, a 16-pane sash on the first floor, and a small gabled attic dormer with a 6-pane sash. All windows are boarded over, except for the dormer window. The interior has not been inspected.
