Description
The White Bear Public House is a public house dating from the late 18th century, with possible earlier origins. It is constructed of brick in Flemish bond and features painted storey bands, with a moulded band at the first floor. The roof is slate, with brick stacks at the ends. The building has three storeys and a two-window range, following a two-unit plan.
At the center, there is a 20th-century part-glazed door set within a moulded wood surround, topped with a semi-circular hood supported by consoles. On the ground and first floors, there are canted bays on the left and right, each featuring 16-pane sash windows at the front and moulded entablatures. The second floor also has 16-pane sashes on the left and right. In the center of the first and second floors, there is a painted roundel. To the right, there is a two-storey, one-bay range with an elliptical arch that has a keyblock, and above it, a 12-pane sash window with a wood lintel.
Inside, the room on the ground floor to the right includes a large fireplace with a heavily moulded wood surround.
