Description
Nos. 9 and 11 High Street is a shop that was formerly a house, dating from the late 18th century. The building is likely constructed of brick, now rendered, with a plinth and stucco quoins. It features a tile roof with a brick ridge stack and has two storeys plus an attic, arranged in a three-window range. Originally, it had a three-unit plan.
On the centre and left, there is a six-panelled door with a paned overlight, pilasters, and a gabled hood supported by consoles. The centre has a canted bay with a 16-pane sash window at the front. To the ground and first floor on the right, there is another canted bay with 16-pane sashes, the first-floor window featuring moulded architraves. On the first floor, there are 12-pane sashes to the left and centre. The building also has three 19th-century gabled dormers. The interior has been opened up on the ground floor. The listing does not include the Gateway Supermarket.
