Description
Pembroke College's Staircase 16, dating from 1485, is an important architectural feature that has undergone alterations in the 17th and 18th centuries. This three-storey building is constructed of rubble and includes cellars, topped with a modern red tile roof and a central red brick chimney stack. The facade features two three-storey bays, with continuous string courses between the first and second floors. The ground floor is roughcast and contains two doorways with four-centred heads, along with modern windows. However, the first and second floors of the bays retain some 17th-century mullions. A rainwater pipe from the 18th century runs down the center of the building. Inside, there is a 17th-century doorway.
