5/114 Middleton Park: icehouse approx. 300m. to NW

Icehouse. C18. Coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings; brick interior. Rectangular entrance front has a semi-circular archway below a projecting string and probably had a simple triangular pediment. Entrance stands at the end of a long mound. Interior: entrance leads to 2 lobbies, barrel-vaulted in brick and each with round-arched stone doorways, inner chamber has a brick dome. (F. Woodward, Oxfordshire Parks, 1982, p.19).
