Description
Middleton Park Garage Wing and the northern pair of forecourt lodges are a subsidiary part of a country house, now divided into dwellings. They were designed in 1938 by Sir Edwin Lutyens and Robert Lutyens for the 9th Earl of Jersey. The buildings are constructed from coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings and feature a plain-tile roof with rubble stacks.
The single-storey garage range is concealed from the forecourt by a solid wall that has only two gateways with rusticated doorcases. The return wall to the left now has tall shuttered sashes similar to those on the main house. The linked lodges, which have pyramid roofs, are two storeys tall with attics and feature a two-window arrangement of 2-light shuttered casements, hipped roof dormers, and an apex stack. The lodge next to the forecourt entrance has a pedimented rusticated doorway and is connected by a short section of wall containing another doorway to one of the entrance piers, which bears a stone eagle by Sir W. Reid Dick. The interiors have not been inspected.
