Description
The southern wall of a pair flanking the west front of Middleton Park was built in 1938 by Sir Edwin and Robert Lutyens. The wall is made of limestone ashlar and features a statue, likely made of Coade stone, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The low ashlar wall extends from the right corner of the mansion's west front, and at the outer end, there is a standing lion with one paw resting on a sphere. This wall is part of a pair that includes lions that once adorned the pediment of the earlier mansion.
