Description

The structure is a wall and statue located at Middleton Park, designed in 1938 by Sir Edwin and Robert Lutyens, with the statue dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The wall is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a statue that is possibly made of Coade stone. The low ashlar wall extends from the left corner of the west front of the mansion, and at the outer end, there is a standing lion with one paw resting on a sphere. This wall is part of a pair that incorporates the lions which previously adorned the pediment of the earlier mansion.
