Description
Brook Cottage is a small house that likely dates back to the 17th century or earlier, with remodels in the 18th century and an extension added in the early 19th century. The structure is built from limestone rubble and brick, topped with an old plain-tile roof featuring brick gable stacks. It has a three-unit plan with an added rear wing and stands one storey plus an attic. The middle and left bays of the three-window front are made of rubble, while the right bay and rear wall are constructed from brick of various ages. The building has flanking three-light windows and three gabled roof dormers, which contain 20th-century casements. A fire insurance plaque is affixed below the eaves. The walls include numerous beam ends and plates, suggesting that the house was originally timber framed. The brick rear wing returns on the left side. The interior has not been inspected.
