Description

Stapenhill is a farmhouse, probably from the 17th century, with later alterations to its facade. It is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble and features a stone slate roof laid in diminishing courses, with stone coping on the left gable. The building has two 20th-century brick stacks and a two-unit plan, rising two storeys plus an attic. The ground floor has 20th-century windows that still show remnants of hood moulds, and there is a gabled hood above the central entrance. A re-set 2-light pointed window is located on the gable end. Inside, the farmhouse includes stop-chamfered beams, a bressumer over the fireplace, plank doors, and a wooden winder stair leading to the first floor.
