Description

Peartree Cottage is probably a 17th-century cottage, with later additions to the right and rear. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble, with a Welsh slate roof and a brick end stack on the left. The original part of the cottage comprises a single-cell plan, later extended to the right and rear. The building is two storeys plus an attic. It has a single three-light casement window on each floor, and a two-light casement in the attic. A door is located to the right of the original 17th-century section. Inside, the ground floor room features stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and a chamfered bressumer to the fireplace; there's an indication of a stone hearth in the ceiling to the right of the fireplace. The first-floor bedroom has stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, panelling, and a plank door leading to a winder staircase with a straight flight to the attic. The ranges to the right and rear have been remodelled and extended.
