Description
Scotland House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with 18th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and has a stone slate roof, featuring stone stacks at the left gable end and ridge. The building is L-shaped, with an early plan modified by a wing on the right and a 19th or 20th-century brick extension at the rear. It stands two storeys tall and has a three-unit plan with a through passage. The entrance is located to the right of the centre. Most of the windows are 16-pane sashes. The house has an ashlar ironstone porch with a stone slate roof and chamfered jambs. The right wing encloses an earlier part of the building, which has a four-light stone mullioned window with a hood mould and label stops on the ground floor, along with a similar two-light window in the attic storey. There is a cellar beneath the wing. The interior has not been inspected.
