Description

This milestone, likely from the late 18th century, is located between 118 and 120 Banbury Road in Kidlington, on the east side of the road at the entrance to a public footpath. The milestone stands about 0.6 meters high and is made of worked stone with a rounded top. It features the inscription ‘OXFORD / [5] / BANBURY / 17’. Although the mileage to Oxford is now unreadable, the first edition Ordnance Survey map verifies that it originally indicated ‘5’.
