Description

The Church of St John the Baptist is a church located in Bodicote, with its origins dating back to the 13th century. The chancel arch is from the 13th century, while the nave arcades were built in the 14th century. The west tower was added in 1844, and the church was remodeled in the same year by architects John Plowman and H.J. Underwood. The building is constructed from regularly coursed ironstone rubble and features lead roofs.

The church comprises a chancel, nave, north aisle, north porch, south aisle, south porch, and the west tower. The chancel includes a four-light Decorated style east window with 19th-century tracery and a niche above it. There is a 19th-century pointed arched door, Decorated style windows, one of which has a hoodmould, and a square-headed window to the north, along with angle buttresses. The north and south aisles contain 19th-century Perpendicular style windows and lancets, with moulded parapets. The clerestorey features five two-light windows.

The three-stage west tower is crenellated and topped with finials. Inside, there are fragments of medieval glass in the north chancel window. The 13th-century chancel arch has semi-circular responds and moulded capitals. The three-bay nave arcades have two orders of chamfers. The east window contains stained glass created by W. Holland of Warwick in 1847.
