Description

The Hix memorial is a headstone located approximately 8 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Steeple Aston. Dating from around 1653, it is made of limestone and features a small stone with a moulded arched recess that surrounds a raised shield-shaped inscription panel. The inscription commemorates Joane Hix, who died in 1653. The reverse side of the stone also has a similar arched design along with the inscription "1653/IH".
