Description

Avenell is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with squared quoins and wooden lintels, topped with a Stonesfield-slate roof and brick stacks. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high. The left side of the four-window front features a central plank door flanked by three-light casements, with three two-light casements above on the first floor. The right side includes an additional door and a three-light casement on each floor. A rounded bread-oven projection aligns with the central stack, and the roof has additional gable stacks. There is a single-storey subsidiary bay to the right that has a three-light casement. The interior has not been inspected.
