Description
Oxford House is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone and coursed rubble, with some ashlar dressings, and features a Stonesfield-slate roof with brick stacks. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys plus an attic.
The front has a symmetrical arrangement of three bays to the right of a four-window layout. This includes a central six-panel door beneath a two-light casement, with three-light casements in the outer bays. The ground floor currently has one 20th-century casement and one 19th-century sash window. To the left, there is a bay constructed of rubble that is of a different build, featuring a small two-light casement above a large small-pane window, along with a doorway that has a rectangular overlight. All openings are topped with ashlar flat arches. The roof is adorned with three gabled dormers and has stacks on both gables and to the left of centre. The rear of the house includes two small outshuts, one of which has a small blocked chamfered-stone window. The interior has not been inspected.
