Description
Barleyport is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with some ashlar dressings and wooden lintels, topped with a Stonesfield-slate roof and stone-and-brick stacks. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high.
The front facade features three windows, with tall two-light casements in the first bay and at the ground floor in the second bay. The second and third bays have stone-mullioned windows with three and two lights at the first floor, while the ground floor of the third bay has a two-light mullioned window with a flat label. The entrance is located to the left of the last window. The right end wall includes a single-light window with a moulded surround.
The steep-pitched roof is adorned with fine gable parapets that have moulded triangular copings and ornamental projecting kneelers. Both gables feature brick stacks, and there is also a stone-based ridge stack positioned to the left of the doorway. The interior has not been inspected.
