Description
The Old Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, dating from 1687, as indicated by the datestone TB/1687. It is constructed of regularly coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched Welsh slate roof with brick end stacks set on stone bases. The building is designed in an L-plan and consists of a single storey plus an attic, with a three-window range.
The entrance on the right side includes a six-panelled door that has a moulded wood surround and a stop-chamfered wooden lintel. To the left of the door, there is a small window and a casement window, both featuring stop-chamfered wooden lintels. The attic has three casement windows that are currently blocked. The wing to the right has a 20th-century casement window on the ground floor, also with a stop-chamfered wooden lintel. The attic includes a two-light window and a four-light wooden mullioned window, which has a wrought iron casement fastener. The building is finished with stone copings and ironstone quoins, and there is a 20th-century extension at the right end.
Inside, the farmhouse features stop-chamfered beams, a chamfered bressumer above the inglenook fireplace, a wide plank floor in the attic, plank doors, and a cellar.
