Description

This house, located approximately 100 meters south of Sunnyside at the corner of Church Lane and the Green, dates from the 17th century and mid-18th century, with a roof that may have been raised in the late 18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and features a slate roof. The building has a stone end stack and a stone end stack with a brick shaft.

The house has a two-unit plan, with a lower 17th-century section at the rear, forming an L-shape. The front elevation faces The Green and consists of two storeys plus an attic, with a two-window range. On the ground floor, there are two 3-light metal casements, while the first floor has two 2-light metal casements, all with chamfered wood lintels. A single gabled roof dormer is present, along with tie beams.

The entrance on Church Lane features a chamfered square head, a panelled and glazed door, and a hood mould with label stops. To the left of the entrance is a 2-light stone mullioned window, also with a hood mould and label stops. The attic includes a 3-light metal casement, and wrought-iron casement fasteners and springs are used throughout. The gables are stone-coped. The interiors have not been inspected, but the house is included for its group value.
