Description

This is a late 18th-century farmhouse with a smaller cottage attached to its left side. The farmhouse is constructed from ironstone ashlar, while the cottage is of ironstone rubble. Both have slate or tile roofs, and end stacks with brick shafts and stone bases. The farmhouse has stone coped gables with moulded kneelers. The original farmhouse has a two-unit plan, with later additions to the rear and 20th-century alterations. The front of the farmhouse has a three-window range. The central entrance now has a 20th-century door and overlight within a 20th-century porch. Flanking the entrance are 20th-century windows set within the original window openings, each with a keyblock stone head. The first floor has two- and three-light casement windows with wooden lintels. The cottage has a plank door and casement windows with wooden lintels. The farmhouse is recorded in the Victoria County History as Vicarage Farm. The interiors were not inspected.
