Description

The tomb of Marshall Viscount Beresford is located about 1 metre south of Christ Church on Goudhurst Church Road. It is a memorial for William, Viscount Beresford, who died in 1854, and Lady Louisa, who died in 1851. The tomb is made of stone and marble, featuring a large stepped base supporting two chests. The side panels are made of incised white marble, while the top slabs are adorned with raised crosses and bronze inscriptions. Originally, the tomb was covered by an elaborate superstructure, which was removed in 1923 for safety reasons.
