Description
The monument to Thomas Berrow is located in the churchyard about 16 metres south of the south wall of the chancel of the Church of St Mary. It is a chest tomb dating from the late 17th century, made of sandstone. The tomb features a thick flat top with a moulded edge, and sunk panels that are decorated with leaf and drape embellishments. The base of the monument was sunk at the time of the survey in November 1983. Although it commemorates Thomas Berrow, who died in 1702, the design of the monument appears to be older than this date. The north side of the monument has recently suffered damage from a fire that occurred between it and the nearby William Thomas monument, which is situated to its north.
