Description
The walled garden with glasshouses, located about 100 metres south-west of Tongswood, dates from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features walls that stand approximately 10 feet high, supported by regular buttress piers. The garden measures about 60 by 100 metres, with entrances on the north and south walls framed by capped piers topped with ball finials. The walls slope down to these piers. The east and west walls have single doors with baluster-screen upper panels and segmental heads, framed by paired buttresses. Attached to the exterior of the east and south walls are single-storey lean-to storehouses and cottages, along with ranges of glasshouses that have red brick bases; the lean-to is positioned against the east wall, while the glasshouses are arranged in the south-west corner.
