Description

The Clearing is a house, likely dating to the early 18th century, or possibly earlier, with alterations and extensions made in the mid-19th century. The front is rendered with a plain tiled roof, and it has a projecting wing to the left, also rendered and weather-boarded. The house is two storeys high, topped by a plat-cornice to the parapet, with stacks at each end. There are two glazing bar sashes on each floor, with another in the left-hand outshot. To the right is a two-storey and garret wing, featuring bargeboarding and a stack to the left. This wing has a glazing bar sash in the gable head and another on the first floor. A small sash window sits above a half-glazed panelled door, which is set within an open-pedimented doorcase supported by pilasters and brackets. A French window is positioned to the right, with a gabled porch in front of it.
