Description

The Little Manor, along with an attached wall and water pump, is a building dating from the mid-19th century that has been altered in the mid-20th century. Constructed from sandstone blocks, it features a plain tiled roof. The structure is two storeys high, set on a plinth, and has a shallow plat band, with gables that have kneelered parapets and stacks at the rear left and projecting at the end right.

On the first floor, there are segmentally headed sash windows on the left and right, along with a small casement window and a three-arched light mullioned window in the center left, also segmentally headed. The ground floor has three segmentally headed sashes, all with vertical glazing bars, and two narrow lights to the right in blocked segmentally headed openings. A rib and stud door is located to the center left, topped with a flat hood supported by rounded projecting wall piers.

From the center left, a red brick pier projects, capped and featuring a cast iron lamp stand. Attached to the wall on a wooden post is a cast iron hand-pump, which has a domed head, water spout, and curved handle. This building was formerly part of the service wing to Theobalds, a 17th-century house that underwent significant alterations in the 19th century and was demolished in 1961. Theobalds was home from 1902 to 1923 to Henry G Liley, a locally noted architect and benefactor.
