Description

Copthall Cottages is a row of cottages dating from the 17th century. The cottages are timber-framed with a red brick ground floor and a tile-hung first floor, which is mathematically arranged to the left. There is a plain and decoratively tile-hung wing behind to the left, along with a red and blue brick wing beyond that. The roofs are plain tiled, with a half-hipped design to the right, a half-hipped roof on the wing to the left, and a half-hipped gambrel roof on the further left-hand wing.

A large red brick chimney stack is located to the left of the center on the main block, and there is another brick stack on the hipped wing at the rear of the inner left-hand block. The main block features two gabled dormers on the left side. The cottages are two storeys high with an attic, while the outer left-hand block is one and a half storeys. The inner left-hand block has one window on each floor, both featuring glazing bar sashes with open boxes. The main block has four windows, which are slightly irregular, with glazing bar sashes on the left and 20th-century casements on the right.

The entrance to No. 1 features a boarded door with a leaded pentice hood, located to the right of the outer left-hand block. No. 2 has a panelled door with two top-lights glazed, positioned to the left of the center on the main block, and it has a flat hood supported by brackets. No. 3 has a panelled door to the right of the main block, with a long 20th-century flat hood above it.
