Description

Forge House is an 18th-century house situated near David’s Bridge in Cranbrook. It is timber-framed, resting on a deep painted brick plinth and clad in painted weather-boarding. The roof is of plain tiles, with a half-hipped gambrel design, and a brick stack is located at the rear on the left side. There are two gabled dormers. The house has two storeys, a basement, and an attic. The front facade is regular in design, with three windows. It features glazing bar sashes, with open boxes; the windows in the outer bays on the first floor are wider than the central first-floor window. Tripartite sash windows are on the ground floor. A central glazed door is set within a reeded surround, topped by a flat hood supported by large volute brackets with drops below. A single basement window is positioned to the right of the centre.
