Description

The main stable block, located about 100 metres north-west of Tongswood Farmhouse, dates from the late 19th century. It features a timber frame with weatherboarding set on a red brick base, topped by a plain tiled roof. The building is single storey with a hipped roof, and it has shuttered and gabled louvres on both sides, as well as a central octagonal dovecot-turret with a concave spire and weather-vane. The central section projects with a half-timbered gable supported by brackets, which includes a loft door and a hoist pulley. The ground floor has boarded half-doors at both ends and a pair of doors in the centre with a rectangular fanlight above, flanked by paired mullioned windows on either side. This stable block is part of the model-farm complex associated with Kingswood Home Farm.
