Description
79 Mount Ephraim is a particularly fine early 19th century villa, built in 1746. The building is two storeys high with a semi-basement, and it is finished in stucco. It features a cornice, a parapet, and a pediment, with segmental acroteria at the corners. An iron balcony on the ground floor is supported by square pillars and has a hood held up by octagonal columns. The balcony projects at the center and has a pediment above it, with steps and a handrail leading down to the garden. There are three sash windows, although some glazing bars are missing, and two bay windows on the ground floor. The doorcase is topped with a segmental fanlight. On each side of the house, there are stuccoed archways with pediments above and pilasters on the outer sides, each topped with ball finials, and each end has a round-headed doorcase. The villa also has a good staircase.
