Description

This is a possible hall-house, now comprising a pair of cottages, dating to the 15th century with 18th-century re-cladding. It is timber-framed and has red and blue brick elevations, slightly set back to the right with a raised plat band. The roof is hipped and tiled, with a gablet to the left and a tall brick stack projecting from the left side. The two-storey front has an irregular two-window arrangement with casement windows. The central entrance, serving number 578, features a boarded door and a flat hood supported by iron brackets. A second entrance, at the left-hand end serving number 580, has a boarded door within a projecting brick porch. A two-storey wing from the 16th century extends to the rear, displaying exposed timber framing and brick infill. Various red brick additions from the 19th and 20th centuries are also present at the rear of the property.
