Description
This is a possible hall house, dating from the early 16th century, which has been extended and divided into separate cottages. It was extended to the left and rear in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The construction is timber-framed, with a rendered plinth to the ground floor on the left side, tile hanging above, and a brick-clad cross wing and extensions to the rear. The roof is tiled. The building follows a "T" shape, with the cross wing set at a right angle to the street. It has two storeys with ridge stacks in the centre and stacks to the rear. There are two leaded windows on the first floor, and three windows on the ground floor to the right. A further window is set within a pentice extension to the right end. A gabled bay is on the left side, featuring brick dentils on the gables. The windows are irregular casements, with one window on each floor and one between floors. A 20th-century door is located on the right (at No. 6), consisting of a double-glazed door and a stable-style door to the left. Double gabled wings extend to the rear, each with one first-floor casement window. A brick porch is on the left (at No. 5), and a trellis porch is on the right (at No. 4). An open gabled porch leads to a part-glazed door at the end of the cross wing (at No. 3).
