Description

Middle Farm House is a hall house dating from the 15th century, with early 17th-century extensions and a 19th-century facade. The house is timber-framed and now clad in whitewashed render, with a plain tiled roof. It is two storeys in height in the gabled end bays, with a single storey and attic in the centre. A ridge stack has been inserted to the right, and rear stacks are present to the left. The gables have wavy-edged bargeboards, and a gabled dormer is also present. The windows are 19th-century casements with hexagonal pattern glazing bars. The arrangement of windows is as follows: one window on the first floor in each gabled bay, two “cross” windows on the ground floor, and one further window to the left of the centre. A ribbed door is located in the centre, within a gabled brick porch featuring wavy-edged bargeboards and braces. The right-hand return front shows exposed timber framing with whitewashed brick and render infill. A pentice extension is located to the rear left.
