Description

The Inn House is a 15th-century farmhouse, later adapted as an inn and now a shop, with additions from the 16th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and has elevations of painted brick on a coursed rubble stone plinth, with a rendered north side. A plat band runs around the building, and the roof is tiled, with slightly lower gabled cross-wings at the ends. Modern boxed eaves and bargeboards have been added. A stack is located at the rear of the right side. The building is two storeys high and has six windows, which are sashes. The ground floor features shop fronts under the gables to the left and right, a central shop front, and a smaller shop front to the right. There are glazed doors to the left of the central shop front and to the right-hand side. Blocked, keyed bullseye windows are set within the gables. A 20th-century panel displays the name ‘THE INN HOUSE’ in upper case letters on the first floor.
