Description
The gates, gatepiers, and mounting block located to the south-west of Ightham Mote date from the early 19th century and are made of cast and wrought iron. The gates feature fleur-de-lys rails and dog-rails, which ramp up to the hinges above and include scroll-work in the rails. The gatepiers are hollow cast iron, showcasing an intersecting striated design on each face and topped with anthemion decorations. The rails extend to either side to close the entry. To the left, there is a four-step mounting block made of rough stone.
