Description

This is a terrace of houses at numbers 12 to 22, built in the 1850s. The buildings are rendered and have slate roofs. They are designed in an Italianate style, arranged over three main floors and a basement. A cill band, frieze, and cornice mark the top of the main facade, and projecting end pavilions feature rusticated quoins and pediments. The pavilions incorporate two paired, semi-circular headed windows on the second floor. The four central houses feature two sash windows with vertical glazing bars and moulded surrounds to each floor. A two-storey and basement canted bay protrudes from the front, incorporating segmentally and semi-circular headed windows, French windows, a tented verandah with trellised piers, valance, and decorative bar rails on ornate brackets. Each house has a pair of half-glazed doors, flanked by ramped side walls and footscrapers leading to steps, within a moulded and keyed surround with a central rail. The basement level has single-glazing bar sashes. A rusticated round-headed doorway is on the left return, and a completely rusticated base and door are on the right return. The basement area is enclosed by palmette-headed rails, topped with pineapple finial principals.
