Description

The Elephant and Castle is a public house dated 1834, located on Hereson Road in Ramsgate. It is constructed from stock brick and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys divided into two sections, with a parapet and chimney stacks on both the left and right sides. On the first floor, there is a canted bay oriel window to the left and a two-storey canted bay to the right. The ground floor has a projecting bar front on the left, with panelled doors flanking a plate glass window that is designed in the style of a Venetian window, complete with a panelled apron. The right section features a segmentally headed glazing bar sash window on the first floor and a plate glass window below that is framed by a pilastered surround. A datestone on the right is inscribed with "J.W. 1834."
