Description

The Belvedere Inn is a public house located on High West Street in Weymouth. It was built in the early 19th century, with a public house front added in the late 19th century. The building features painted brickwork and a slate roof, presenting a broad frontage with a single-depth layout across two storeys and an attic.

The exterior includes four 6-pane sash dormers, which are adorned with alternately triangular and segmental moulded pediments. Below these, there is a 16-pane sash window positioned off-centre to the left, flanked by 8:12:8-pane oriel windows that have dentil cornices. The ground floor showcases a full-width public house front from the late 19th or early 20th century, characterized by wide lights above a glazed brick stall-riser, triple-paned transom lights, and pilasters with heavy consoles and a deep sloping fascia. The central doorway is broad and features a transom light, with three lights to the left and two to the right, followed by an additional door with its own transom light.

The building's mansard roof is finished with slate-hanging on the gables and has gable stacks. At the rear, there is one flat-roofed early dormer, and to the west, deep projecting wings are constructed in brick and slate. Although the previous listing mentioned a shop front, the current design appears to reflect a typical public house style from the later 19th century. The interior has not been inspected.
