Description

This barn, located at Upper Hale on Canterbury Road, dates from the 16th and 18th centuries. It features a timber frame that is clad with red brick and weatherboarding, topped with a corrugated asbestos roof. The barn has a half-hipped roof with two raking mid-streys. Inside, there are eight bays with aisles; the center three bays have passing shores to the arcade posts, while the outer bays include quadrant braces. The roof is constructed in two periods, with a clasped purlin in the center and staggered tenoned purlins in the outer bays.
