Description
These are two barns located about 50 metres south of Nether Hale. The first barn dates from the 16th century, while the second barn is from the late 18th century. Both barns are timber framed, sitting on a base of rubble stone and brick, and are weather boarded with corrugated asbestos roofs. The 16th-century barn runs east to west and features a heavy masonry base, with some parts renewed in brick. It has a hipped roof and a raking mid-stray. Inside, it consists of five bays and aisles, with passing shores and a clasped purlin roof. The late 18th-century barn extends from the north-west corner of the first barn and has a half-hipped roof, with braces and struts in the arcade and diagonal struts in the roof.
