Description

The Tomb of Dante Gabriel Rossetti is located in the churchyard at Birchington-on-Sea and was designed by Ford Madox Brown. Rossetti passed away on 9 April 1882. The tomb features a stone Celtic cross, with the arms and stem connected by a circle. At the bottom of the stone is a representation of St Luke, the patron saint of painters, and above this is an ox, which is the emblem of the Evangelist. The design includes scrolled motifs.
