Description

RAMSGATE LONDON ROAD TR 3764 SW (South side) 17/257 The Lodge and Courtyard 5.11.74 Bon Secours Nursing Home GV II Stable and cottage and yard, now cottages and stables. C19 of various periods. Stock brick, part painted, with slate roof. Two storeys with plat band and hipped roof with central gablet with roundel and leaded square cupola with weather vane, and 3 stacks ranged from left to right. Five wooden casements, 1 to right of different pattern with 2 wooden casements and sash to cottage at end right. Two lunette windows to left on ground floor, 2 wooden casements, 1 metal casement and sash to right. Boarded door to left, half glazed to centre and half glazed in C20 glazed porch at end right. Carriage openings to end left and to centre right. Single storey extension to end right. Courtyard to end left, with boundary wall of flint and brick about 8 feet high with boarded gate. The west (curving) wall of the yard with open arcaded sheds, the east wall with single storey building, originally the groom's cottage. Set in coloured cobbles in the still - cobbled yard floor is the date 1890. The end left portion of the main range (with the lunette windows) still contains the loose boxes and flooring, etc. of the stables.
