Description
Chandos Cottage is a house built between 1822 and 1836, located on the north side of Ramsgate Vale Square. The front elevation is pebble dashed, with flint on the returns and ashlar at the rear. The house has a slate roof and consists of two storeys and a basement. It features a string course, cornice, and a parapet above a hipped roof with two stacks on the left side. On the first floor, there are three glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor has two French windows with fanlights and louvred shutters, along with a half-glazed door to the right, which includes a rectangular fanlight. The ground floor also has a verandah with a tented roof, supported by baluster piers and with trellised sides. There is a basement opening on the left return. This house predates the development of Vale Square by J.C. Eddels.
