Description
This is a barn located to the southwest of Paul's Farm House, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It features a 5-bay structure at the north end with a later 3-bay extension to the south. The barn is timber framed and weatherboarded, resting on a plinth that is partly brick and partly stone. It has a half-hipped tile roof with a hipped porch at the west center entry of the northern 5 bays, and there are full-height boarded doors on the opposite side. The second or southern thrashing floor is made of brick. The roof is fully framed with staggered butt purlins, pegged rafters, and a queen strut truss in the northern 5 bays. There is a later addition at the north end, and a northwest outshut features chamfered posts in the west external wall, which may have originally been open-sided.
