Description

The British Legion Hall, formerly the Evangelical Free Church, was built in 1871 by George Devey. This red brick building features a pattern of blue headers and stone dressings. It is designed in the Perpendicular style, with windows divided by stepped buttresses. The front facing the road has two upper windows, each with two lights and square heads, which are set beneath continuous stepped hoodmoulds. There is a projecting porch on the right side, supported by diagonal buttresses. The British Legion Hall, along with the Leigh Club, the Village Hall, their forecourt walls, Nos 1 and 2 Fleur de Lis Cottages, and the Fleur de Lis Public House, form a cohesive group.
