Description
The large barn located to the southeast of Sundridge Place dates back to the 16th century and is constructed of galleted coursed rubble with red brick detailing around the first-floor loading doors and ground floor openings. The barn features a wide, four-centred arch in two planes, along with two smaller openings that have elliptical arches. On the north side, there are three slit windows and two later small openings. The barn has a high-pitched tiled roof. Inside, there is a former oast house built into the west end, with a roof structure consisting of tie beams, queen posts, and collar beams, along with purlins at two levels and wind braces. Adjoining the barn is a one-storey range of outbuildings that extends south from the east end of the barn, constructed with similar stonework and a tiled roof, and featuring three casement windows. The barn, Sundridge Place, and the outbuildings together form a cohesive group.
